Fabric collage class based on the Lipstick Ranch art of KC Willis.

The details of making my art have never been videotaped before...so this is a first for you and for me! We will cover a lot in this workshop. And when all is said and done you will have the ammo needed to make art using beloved family photos or any favorite photo. Basic machine sewing is helpful, but you can do it using hand stitching or even just gluing, if you have an aversion to thread. But for the best look you're going to want to sew, and you don't need an expensive machine at all. And you don't have to do western art here. Any fabrics you love and a photo that inspires will do! Once you pay the Collage Camp fee below, you will be able to access these videos at anytime and work at your own pace. There will be videos on: • Coffee-staining lots of things! • Photo transfers • Combining papers and fabrics • Burning techniques • How to layer for texture • Putting the basics together • Making mixed media collages for embellishment • My tricks to finding and harvesting cool things to use as materials • Embellishing with found objects • How to make a hanging device • Make pieces using mostly paper and cardboard.
• How to put together larger pieces with multiple images and quotes.
• And I will also offer fun and hopefully inspiring advice and stories on life as an artist.

Collage Camp Now on DVD!

The entire six video workshop is now available on DVD! For those of you who want to take the workshop, but who can't access the videos on your computer or who prefer to do the work without the social networking of the class....this is ideal for you. Makes a great gift for that Artsy person you know and love.

DVD plus access to the Collage Camp Network......$98

And then there's KC in a Box!

I finally came up with a way to offer you all my workshop DVD's in one place...with an original collage of mine and bits of fabrics and doo-dads all in a great box to keep it all in.

In order to get all the DVD's in the past you needed to go to 3 different places and order one-by-one. This takes care of that...it's cheaper to buy this way than separately...and you get a cool one-of-a-kind art box with a KC collage on it and some bits from my studio stash!

The Collage Camp DVD is a six-video class where I show all the secrets to making work look old and funky....with a heavy dose of motivation and inspiration thrown in for good measure. This DVD has been selling for $75 by itself. Soooo much good info here.

Then you take what you learned in Collage Camp and have at it with 2 cool Altars and Shrine art projects on one DVD. And 3 awesome mixed media art book projects on Altered Books. These sell separately for $35 each.

A box with a collage on top would retail for $60...I'm just sayin.'

So if you want to take all the art workshops I currently offer, but just can't get to Colorado....or you simply want to give a friend the gift of more art than she'll know what to do with....well...it's in the bag! I mean...the box.

$75

Details, Details...

The KC Willis Collage Camp is an extension of my art line called Lipstick Ranch. This art celebrates the women of yesteryear, with a special love and emphasis on the Women of the West. You, of course can use any family image you love or any image in Public Domain. We will go over step-by-step the making of a 16x20 piece, as well as have challenges from time to time to suggest completing other pieces. The techniques are such that in the end the work you will make will look old and weathered with luscious layers of fabrics, collages and embellishments.

You join the artist's group here at The Camp when you pay your registration. Once the videos are up you can watch them at your leisure and be involved with the Camp Community as much or as little as you like. You will make friends and you will be inspired by the work that will be done here.

Altered Books Workshop and Altars/Shrines Workshop are now Here at Camp!

With this latest Summer Issue of Somerset Sew magazine came some great PR for Collage Camp thanks to Judy Bidwell's beautiful mixed media book article. Thanks and Congrats to Judy! Until now my Book Class and my Altar and Shrines Class were on a whole other Ning site. I have decided to make them two groups within Collage Camp for easier access.

The Altars and Shrines Class takes you through two Altar projects with a bonus video on what to look for to make your Altars and Shrines. The possibilities are endless. Only $55

The Altered Book Workshop has 3 complete book projects that are unique to my style and will forever change the way you look at art books. If you liked the books featured in Somerset Sew...this is the class for you. Only $55
To join both or either of these on-line classes...pay the registration fee below and then go to the Workshop Group beneath the Members list in the right-hand column. These classes are also available on DVD in KC in a Box...details in the lower left-hand column here. Enjoy!

ALTARS AND SHRINES WORKSHOP $55

ALTERED BOOKS WORKSHOP $55

BOTH WORKSHOPS FOR $92

Collage Camp is a pre-requisite for these two classes. If you are not a member of Collage Camp, but would like to be AND take these two classes too...you can get Collage Camp Complete for only $160. Purchased separately these classes would be $185.

COLLAGE CAMP COMPLETE...$160

KC on HGTV

This six minute video was filmed a few years ago when I lived in Santa Fe by a crew from Home and Garden Television. It's a good piece for you to see how fabric can carry a house! Get ready to make your own unique fabric art using transferred images and words.

And I would suggest you try watching this to see if your computer can view my videos. There are 3 little glitches in the first 5 seconds of the video. After that it should be fine, unless your computer and/or internet connection isn't compatible. The class will be available for purchase on DVD as an alternative.

Cora Zell is adorable! Simple and delicate is perfect for her picture but I'll bet she was full of mischief! Your work in fabric is as pretty as your work in paper. I love the look of those burlap flowers.

Can we share some web ideas for finding western and other images?  I love Graphicsfairy, but not too many cowgirls on that site.  Any help would be appreciated.  Did some coffee dying today and my hands smell amazingly coffee!

This is so sweet Nancy. The little print fabric and touch of lace is perfect with the precious picture. Your work is always outstanding!

Nancy, really like the deep coffee staining you did. It makes the piece look like it has been in an old trunk for a long time, which fits the picture so well. Great first!

KC's ART KITS

There's more to making pieces that are based on my fabric collage style than meets the eye. Many workshop go-ers have said they would love to make another one or two, but didn't want to spend the bucks collecting all the supplies in yardage or full sheets of the handmade papers, or go thru the hassle of coffee-staining. I hear ya! Took me a year....but I hear ya! :-) I have sold fabric and doo-dad "bits" from my studio before, but never the actual complete kit to make a piece.

COLLAGE CAMP KIT
:

Comes with...
• 12x18 piece of coffee-stained canvas for your main piece
• Assorted fabrics in your choice of color themes (blue, rose/red, creams on creams, greens or browns and creams.
• Coffee stained canvas to apply your photo transfer.
• 2 pieces of photo transfer paper
• Bird's Nest paper, Alpaca String paper and/or Cardboard
(In the end your photo will be applied to fabric and then to paper and will look like the one shown as an example in the picture. Does not come with this picture. You will use your own.)
• A piece of heavy coffee-stained canvas for your quote.
• Clumpies! Everybody loves clumpies.
• A ready-made Collage by KC as an example or as muse.
•All of this is wrapped in a big piece of coffee-stained ticking tied with trim.
• You will add your own fabrics to the mix if you want, as well as your own personal embellishments.

NOTE: You can use the transfer paper to print and transfer your own images, but if you do not have the ability to that contact me at lipstickranch@yahoo.com for info on how your specific photo can be sent to me and included in your kit already photo-transferred.
